What if you had to stay at home and work due to COVID spread in the region, let us start with some news a while ago. The UK National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stressed that the threat of cyber-attacks that exploited the recent COVID-19 outbreak has rapidly increased and called for thorough preparation. It warned against cyber scams, fishing attacks, malware attacks, and ransomware campaigns targeting individuals and organizations by exploiting Corona 19.
“Cyber attackers are changing their tactics to exploit the
COVID-19 pandemic situation, and NCSC is staying on alert for 24 hours a day
with partners to respond,” said Paul Chichester, NCSC Operations Director.
In
recent attack cases, it is spreading through phishing emails and SMS messages
that include files, pretending to be links to recommendations from medical institutions
or information on new confirmed cases in the victim’s area. When an
internet user clicks malicious URL sent by attackers, personal information such
as the victim’s email address, password, and bank information is collected, and
the malicious code is installed on the victim’s PC.
Meanwhile, with COVID-19, telecommuting
trends are expanding around the world, making them a target of cybercriminals. NCSC
and DHS disclosed attack methods of cybercriminals targeting remote victims
with a rapidly growing number and warned that an increasing number of attackers
are looking for vulnerabilities in VPNs and remote work tools and software.

It is also recommended that companies and individuals be careful with email
attachments and that coronavirus-related information should only be verified by
trusted institutions. This is because if a
telecommuter’s company account is leaked due to a phishing attack, it could
lead to an information leakage accident.
To prevent phishing, security companies
recommend
△Prohibit the execution of URLs with unclear sources in posts with provocative titles
△Do not visit suspicious websites
△Use different IDs and passwords for each site
▲ Maintain the latest version of antivirus programs and activate phishing site blocking functions
